University Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170Dodge finally introduced the quickest, fastest, and most powerful muscle car available, the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, complete with a whopping 1,025 horsepower. The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon marks the brand’s seventh and final “Last Call” special-edition vehicle as part of the model’s send-off before the brand fully transitions to electrification. Dodge debuted the all-new vehicle at the “Dodge Last Call Powered by Roadkill Nights Vegas” at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Thanks to its 1,025 horsepower, HEMI engine, and 945 lb-ft of torque, the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.66 seconds. It also features the highest G-force acceleration of any production car currently on the market and can even run on E10 fuel with still-impressive figures such as 900 horsepower and 810 lb-ft of torque. Unlike any other vehicle in the Dodge lineup, the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 easily earns the title of the quickest vehicle ever produced by Dodge in the brand’s 100+-year history. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, the Challenger SRT Demon 170 is also the very first production vehicle to complete the quarter-mile in under nine seconds, with a National Hot Rod Association (NHRA)-certified time of exactly 8.91-seconds.

When placed on the drag strip, the Challenger SRT Demon 170 followed in the footsteps of its predecessor, the Challenger SRT Demon–both models received an NHRA violation letter for completing the quarter-mile in under nine seconds without a safety cage or parachute. Both models are now banned from NHRA quarter-mile competitions.

“To celebrate the end of the HEMI muscle-car era, we pulled off all the governors to reach a new level, a new benchmark of ‘factory-crazy’ production car performance. In 2015, Dodge shocked the world with the 707-horsepower Hellcat. Then, in 2018, we did it with the 840-horsepower Demon, and now we are doing it again with the 1,025-horsepower Demon 170, the world’s first sustainable-energy, eight-second, factory-production, street-legal muscle car,” said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge Brand Chief Executive Officer–Stellantis.

Dodge’s series of “Last Call” vehicles commemorate both the Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger models, which are both slated to come to an end in their current HEMI form by year’s end (2023). The automaker introduced six other “Last Call” vehicles in the lead-up to the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, including: Dodge Challenger Black Ghost, Dodge Charger King Daytona, Dodge Charger Super Bee, Dodge Charger and Challenger R/T Scat Pack Swinger, and Dodge Challenger Shakedown

Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 Highlights

Dodge used exclusive components to really upgrade the 2023 Challenger SRT Demon 170, including a brand-new engine, along with many other features that enhance the vehicle’s natural ability to harness 1,025 horsepower, including:

  • A modified 3.0-liter supercharger comes standard with a larger snout and a 3.02-inch pulley, helping boost pressure more than 40 percent when compared to the Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody.
  • Patent-pending TransBrake 2.0 technology features torque-shaping capability and allows the driver to easily interact with preset torque limits.
  • Tuning is of the essence as well, thanks to uniquely-tuned valves within the adaptive-damping shocks that help transfer weight while the vehicle is in motion, as well as allowing enthusiasts to choose custom race settings for optimal calibration.
  • The model’s staggered Widebody design also helps aerodynamics, making it the first-ever factory-produced vehicle to feature built-in staggered drag.
