Ram Trucks Salutes the Air Force With its Latest Ram 1500 “Built to Serve Edition”
Ram Trucks and its “Built to Serve Edition” pickups march on, with the third installment honoring the Air Force entering production next month (October 2020) at the brand’s Sterling Heights (Michigan) Assembly Plant. This latest debut marks the continuation of Ram’s dedication to celebrating America’s armed forces with five land, sea and air-based themed variants of the brand’s popular Ram 1500 pickup lineup. This third installment is inspired by the Air Force and features an aeronautical-inspired theme with Billet Silver and Anvil exterior color options, along with a black interior and black upholstery with Light Diesel Gray accent stitching.
“Ram continues to honor all of those who serve or have served in the United States armed forces with distinction through our latest ‘Built to Serve’ offering. The ‘Built to Serve’ adage is something Ram truck owners, whether civilian or military, are very familiar with as it’s something we strive to build into every truck and van we produce,” said Mike Koval Jr., Head of Ram Brand, FCA — North America.
Coincidentally enough, the arrival of the third installment of the “Built to Serve Edition” pickups also marks the 73rd anniversary of the U.S. Air Force. Ram will continue to launch a new “Built to Serve Edition” pickup representing a different air, land, or sea-based military branch every three months. Additionally, each of the existing five U.S. military branches have been (or will be) honored by Ram with two handpicked exterior paint shades that evoke the history, the mission, and the spirit of the respective service branch. Each time Ram launches a new “Built to Serve Edition” model, the brand offers a low-volume paint option that’s exclusive to this particular program.
Other features prospective buyers can find on the “Built to Serve Edition” trucks include a United States flag decal, a “Built to Serve” decal on both of the rear quarter panels, 20-inch aluminum wheels with an edition-exclusive Technical Gray finish and much more. On the outside, the latest “Built to Serve Edition” features an all-black grille and surround, black-bezel premium lighting, and black bumpers. Other complementary accents to the blacked-out design include black badges, dual four-inch black exhaust tips, and black wheel-to-wheel side steps.
Owners can continue to display their military pride inside the cabin with “Built to Serve”-embroidered Velcro panels not only on the front seat, but also on the front of each seat’s inboard shoulder panel. The idea is for owners to apply their own patches, be they regimental, flags, slogans, or tapes — all in the name of personalization.
