Why 2019 Was the Best Year on Record for Ram Trucks

January 10th, 2020 by

Merely a decade ago, the U.S. automotive industry found itself collapsing alongside the stock market crash. It was during that tenuous moment that a new leadership team took off on what must’ve felt like a suicide mission for many others in the industry. In an unprecedented move, Dodge and Ram went their separate ways as the lineup of pickups was unbundled from the Dodge brand. Now, a decade later, Ram is better than ever as it reported record sales for all of 2019. The brand even passed Chevrolet to become the No. 2 truck maker in the U.S. Ram sold a total of 703,023 vehicles throughout 2019, marking an 18 percent increase when compared against 2018 figures. 2019 is Ram’s highest level of full-year sales to date in the truck maker’s history.

Ram experienced a substantial uptick in full-year pickup sales thanks to its revamped Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and Ram 3500 models that go above and beyond customer’s needs. The average transaction price of the Ram 1500 has also seen a steep change since the brand went solo a decade ago, now with an average price of $50,000 — a 50 percent increase since 2010. The Ram Heavy Duty saw about a 20 percent increase; instead, its average transaction price is about $55,000. Ample powertrain options, advanced safety features, and other luxury-oriented features are aimed at buyers so they can get more than they ever expected from their Ram pickups.

“These results underscore two significant decisions we have made when it comes to Ram – invest in technology and adopt a three-truck strategy,” said Reid Bigland, Head of Ram and U.S. Sales. “It has taken some hard work, but it has been a true reward to see how Ram has evolved over the past ten years.”

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) got ahead of the pickup race by introducing the all-new Ram 1500 model in 2018. The 2019 model year pickup came equipped with the new Uconnect 4C infotainment system that boosted response times when given tactile commands and a massive 12-inch touchscreen display in the center console, giving Tesla’s touchscreen displays a run for their money. The Ram 1500 model leads the pickup world when it comes to technology thanks to its eTorque mild-hybrid system, exclusive and personalized content from SiriusXM and Pandora (unavailable on any other audio entertainment service) and its split-screen capability along with an optional cargo camera.
