The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is a Top Rated Truck

December 19th, 2019 by

The Ram 1500 is now the Top Rated Truck for 2020 according to Edmunds. Editors over at Edmunds showed love to the full-size pickup in its annual Top Rated Awards, spanning over severn different categories and intended to recognize excellence in today’s automotive segments. Each category’s winner is representative of its respective segment because Edmunds tests every single competitive model on the market.

“The Ram 1500 just keeps getting better and is once again our Top Rated Truck for 2020,” said Alistair Weaver, editor-in-chief, Edmunds. “We still love its technology, interior built quality, ride comfort and capability, but the new EcoDiesel variant introduced this year delivers even stronger fuel economy, more torque and improved towing capability. The Ram 1500 easily remains the most desirable pickup truck on the market.”

The winning Ram 1500 isn’t just a run-of-the-mill Ram, it’s the variant powered by the new-and-improved 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine. Leading the half-ton segment with its diesel towing capability of 12,560 pounds and its 480 lb-ft of torque, the 2020 Ram EcoDiesel is surely worthy of earning the Top Rated Truck award. Also, the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is now the industry’s leader when it comes to half-ton pickups thanks to its 33-gallon fuel tank. The 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel has an incredible driving range that exceeds 1,000 miles.

This new-and-improved EcoDiesel engine is the third generation EcoDiesel that not only delivers increased torque and horsepower, the engine also offers buyers reduced noise, vibration, and harshness levels along with superb fuel economy numbers. These class-leading figures are among the perks that more than exceed the needs of Ram 1500 owners. The new 480 lb-ft of torque marks a 14 percent increase when compared to last-generation figures, while the horsepower also sees an 8 percent increase, yielding 260 horsepower. The 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel marks the first time that Ram offers a diesel powertrain on the Ram Rebel trim as it’s available in all trims and configurations.

Since Ram decided to branch out on its own as a stand-alone division back in 2009, the brand’s main focus has been on designing, developing, and delivering pickup trucks that exceed the demands of today’s buyers. The current Ram lineup includes the Ram 1500 Classic, Ram 1500, Ram 2500, Ram 3500, the ram 4500 and Ram 5500 Chassis Cab, and the ProMaster and ProMaster City cargo vans.
