Ram Returns With a Slew of Blacked-Out Special Edition Pickups
The 2020 Ram 1500 offers buyers an all-new Night Edition package as part of its latest model year updates. The addition of the Night Edition package is just one of many small updates coming to the recent Truck of the Year winner. With a monochromatic exterior that features a blacked-out grille, wheels, exhaust tips, and badges, the 2020 Ram 1500 Night Edition almost looks like it’d be the truck of choice for Batman.
Additionally, the Night Edition package also includes darkened tail light and headlamp bezels for a more menacing look. The Night Edition package is available only on the 2020 Ram 1500 Big Horn and Laramie trims, which respectively feature 20- and 22-inch wheels. Those who aren’t interested in either of these two trims shouldn’t feel discouraged, as there are other packages on other trims that deliver a look that’s just as stealth.
There’s a Black Appearance Group package that’s available on the Rebel trim that’s just as blackened as the above-mentioned Night Edition package. Included in the Black Appearance Group package is a Diamond Black Crystal Pearl exterior with black features such as: 18-inch wheels, skid plate, badges, a front spoiler, headlamp bezels, and the exhaust. A blacked-out interior also comes standard, but buyers can also choose to upgrade to a black and red theme instead.
On the inside, the Rebel now comes standard with the Comfort package that includes rear heated seats, a power tailgate release, and wireless charging. There’s also a New Rebel Safety Group package for 2020 that features Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Forward Collision Mitigation, automatic high beams, and Lane Departure Warning Plus. The Rebel also lets potential buyers to choose from different exterior graphic options if they’re interested.
Both the Night Edition package and the Black Appearance Group package Ram 1500 pickups will go on sale during the Fall (2019). The remainder of the Ram 1500 lineup ineligible for these blacked-out packages will feature the following changes instead: an optional EcoDiesel engine, new eTorque badging on the hood, Blind-Spot Monitoring upgrade available on the Tradesman trim, and three new exterior colors — RV Match Walnut Brown, Hydro Blue, and Olive Green (late availability). In the meantime, the entire Ram Trucks lineup gets to ride out the rest of the model year as winners thanks to the fact that the truck maker surpassed Chevrolet as the No. two best-selling truck brand.
