Ram Releases 1500 North Edition
Ram Trucks seems to be on top of their game with getting consumers interested month after month. Last year and the year before, they released many special edition trucks. The most recent release was the Mojave Sand option package for the Ram 2500, hot on the trail of the new 2018 Harvest Edition on Ram Chassis Cab trucks. New trucks were also named, a new special edition for the Ram 1500, the Ram 1500 Rebel 12, as well as a new medium-sized truck. What’s new? Before the end of the year, Ram is releasing the 2019 Ram 1500 North Edition.
Ram 1500 North Edition
For those of us in the south, we may not find the North Edition very appealing, geared towards making the winter months a little more tolerable. Designed off of the Big Horn trim, the Ram 1500 North Edition comes with a Crew Cab, 4×4 drivetrain, and can be powered by either powertrain. Consumers can get the standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with the mild-hybrid eTorque system. Before the eTorque kicks in, this engine is already able to generate 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. Otherwise, consumers can opt in for the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine with or without eTorque added, able to generate 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque on its own.
Initially, the 2019 Ram 1500 North Edition comes with a 1-inch factory lift, engine block heater, and a 4×4 transfer case. For tackling winter road conditions, we may not need to worry about the snow, but if travelling north, 18- or 20-inch Falken Wildpeak white-letter tires are part of an all-new weather category of tires that grip better in warm and cold weather. North Edition buyers will also get an electronically locking rear axle, heavy-duty shocks, exposed tow hooks, a Class IV receiver hitch, hill-descent control, heated exterior mirrors, and front and rear parking sensors integrated into the black sections of each bumper.
For those wondering about the interior, even if not interested in the winter wonderland features, Ram adds heated front seats, a 12-way power driver’s seat with four-way lumbar support, a heated steering wheel, and dual-zone climate control. An 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment screen with SiriusXM satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto make up the technology features, along with remote start.
If curious about the personal styling, a monochromatic appearance package is standard with body-color bumpers, door handles, mirrors, and grille. One can assume other color options are available. Consumers can also opt-in for a panoramic moonroof, air suspension, and LED headlights. Although made to handle on and off-road use, we can see someone simply enjoying the comfortable interior and available features on chilly windy days – even in South Florida.
