In the 2023 edition of the annual J.D. Power U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) Study, Dodge surpassed its own record by securing first place among mass-market brands. This victory marks the fourth consecutive year that Dodge has claimed the top spot in APEAL, making it the only brand to achieve such a feat for three consecutive years in 2022.

Notably, Dodge’s triumph in APEAL follows closely on the heels of its first-place finish in this year’s J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS) among mass-market brands. This remarkable achievement cements Dodge as the sole domestic brand to lead both mass-market standings in the same year.

Ram, which closely trailed Dodge in this year’s IQS, maintains its impressive performance by ranking second in APEAL for the fourth consecutive year. Remarkably, Ram and Dodge have shared the top two positions in APEAL for five consecutive years since Ram’s first-place victory in 2019. The APEAL Study measures customer feedback on various attributes of current-model vehicles during the first three months of ownership, encompassing aspects ranging from exterior styling to fuel efficiency.

“This outcome demonstrates that the pursuit of superior customer experience is firmly entrenched in our culture,” says Bill Kendell, who took over Stellantis’ North America customer experience organization on July 1 (2023). “Our motto is, ‘Every Customer Counts; Every Journey Matters.’

Amidst a general decline in this year’s APEAL Study results, both Dodge and Ram have managed to stand out and defy the trend. These two brands have remarkably improved on their 2022 scores, with Dodge gaining five points and Ram impressively soaring by 10 points. Furthermore, Dodge and Ram both secure podium finishes in the APEAL Study’s segment rankings. The 2023 Dodge Challenger secures the top spot in the midsize sporty car segment, earning well-deserved recognition. Meanwhile, the 2023 Ram 1500 claims an impressive second-place position among large light-duty pickups, showcasing its excellence in the market.

“Dodge didn’t win this award, we accepted it on behalf of the Brotherhood. We have listened and learned from them. Those lessons will inform our product development as we redefine American muscle for the next era,” said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge and Ram Brand CEO, North America.

In alignment with the Stellantis Dare Forward initiative, both Dodge and Ram are enthusiastically embracing strategic electrification efforts, joining the company’s other esteemed brands in this endeavor. Leading the way for Dodge is the highly anticipated all-new 2024 Hornet CUV, featuring the R/T plug-in hybrid model. This groundbreaking vehicle marks the brand’s first foray into electrified performance, setting the stage for exciting advancements.

On the Ram front, progress is also charging ahead with the introduction of two exceptional BEVs. First, the Ram Promaster electric van, designed to cater to various duty cycles, promises efficiency and sustainability for commercial needs. Second, the Ram 1500 REV full-size light-duty pickup further solidifies Ram’s commitment to electric mobility, offering a powerful and eco-friendly option for discerning drivers. Together, Dodge and Ram are boldly embracing electrification to create a greener and more innovative future for the automotive industry.
