Stellantis, Ram Truck’s parent company, has plenty of reason to celebrate thanks to the ongoing EV momentum propelling the automotive conglomerate to unprecedented earnings reports. Seeing the fruits of its labor, Stellantis is barreling ahead with its plans to fully electrify both the Ram and Jeep brands in North America. Stellantis currently offers 23 battery electric vehicles in its portfolio across the globe, but it expects to more than double that figure by the end of 2024.

As part of its Dare Forward 2030 initiative, Stellantis aims to offer up to 75 EVs globally, with a goal of 5 million units sold by 2030. CEO Carlos Tavares is pleased with the EV strategy in Europe, so much so, that the same one will be applied to Ram and Jeep in North America so both brands can officially launch their respective “transformative journeys.” With a lineup of highly anticipated EVs destined for North America, Stellantis hopes to mimic its success overseas.

Up first is the Ram ProMaster BEV (battery electric vehicle), which thanks to Amazon as its first fleet customer, is bound to be a hit straight off the factory floor. It looks to take on Ford’s E-Transit van head-on. The truck maker will unveil the upcoming ProMaster BEV in the first half of 2023, while deliveries are scheduled to kick off during the second half of the year. Ram also recently revealed its very first electric pickup, the Ram 1500 REV. Reservations closed as swiftly as Ram opened them, with the truck maker reaching max capacity in only five days. The highly-anticipated Ram 1500 REV arrives during the fourth quarter of 2024, according to parent company Stellantis.

Ram 1500 REV

Unlike some of the competitors, Ram kept its style consistent when it came to its Ram 1500 REV–its shape is considered to be nearly identical to any other existing Ram pickup. The initial version offers a crew-cab body and a short truck bed, although Ram refrained from revealing if other configurations would be available as well. Where the real changes come in is on the truck’s underbody, which is underpinned by a new STLA Frame architecture. The STLA Frame is purpose-built for body-on-frame EV models such as the Ram 1500 REV. Something Ram did offer enthusiasts is the fact that a range-extender variant of the pickup with a supplementary gasoline engine will be offered down the line.

One nifty feature introduced on the Ram 1500 REV is Shadow Mode, where the pickup can autonomously follow the driver as they walk ahead; it’s intended to help save time around a job site by automating these short trips. Ram also offers several cabin modes with different ambient lighting, suspension, window opacity, and seating positions–all with the single press of a button.
