University Dodge 2024 Dodge Hornet

The 2024 Dodge Hornet gets electrifying with its first-ever plug-in hybrid model, the R/T trim. This eco-friendly option joins the lineup alongside a refresh for the new model year, with starting prices now at $32,995 (including destination fee).

Hybrid Powertrain Specs

The 2024 Dodge Hornet offers two distinct powertrain options. The R/T and R/T Plus PHEVs combine a 1.3-liter turbo-four engine with a 15.5-kWh battery and a six-speed automatic transmission to generate 288 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Drivers can unleash an extra 30 hp for a short burst with the PowerShot mode, propelling the Hornet from 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds. Additionally, these PHEVs offer selectable drive modes (Electric, E-Save, Hybrid) and an impressive 33-mile electric driving range, contributing to a total driving range of 360 miles. For those seeking a traditional gas-powered option, the GT and GT Plus trims feature a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission, delivering 268 horsepower, 295 lb-ft of torque, and EPA-estimated fuel economy of 21/29/24 mpg city/highway/combined.

Styling

The Hornet’s interior offers a sporty aesthetic with standard black imitation leather seats on the GT and R/T trims, upgraded to standard leather on the GT Plus and R/T Plus (with a red option available). Red accent stitching adds a touch of flair throughout the black cabin. For ultimate convenience, all trims come equipped with a hands-free liftgate, 60/40-split folding rear seats, and a generous underfloor storage area. Stepping outside, the Hornet breaks free from the mold with five optional exterior colors beyond the standard black and white: Acapulco Gold, Blu Bayou, Blue Steele, Gray Cray, and Hot Tamale.

Tech

Tech-savvy drivers will appreciate the Hornet’s standard 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring Dodge’s Uconnect 5. This user-friendly interface integrates smartphone apps, climate controls, and performance readouts in one central location. Plus, it boasts wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless phone connectivity, along with Amazon Alexa integration and a Wi-Fi hotspot. For an extra dose of audiophile pleasure, the GT Plus and R/T Plus trims upgrade the standard six-speaker system to a Harman Kardon premium setup with 14 speakers and a subwoofer. They also add a convenient power moonroof for open-air adventures.

Safety

The Dodge Hornet prioritizes driver and passenger safety with a comprehensive suite of standard features. These include lane departure steering assist, blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. For an extra layer of confidence on the road, the optional Tech Pack adds Active Driving Assist. This advanced system combines lane-centering steering with adaptive cruise control, allowing for semi-autonomous driving on highways or in stop-and-go traffic.
