This year, Ram is pulling out all the stops with their new available off-road package on the 2019 Ram 1500 lineup. This package adds a one-inch suspension lift, an electronic-locking rear differential, and 32-inch on/off-road tires on 18- or 20-inch wheels. Buyers may also choose to have available four-corner air suspension. To help with going off-road, Ram also added two new transfer cases by BorgWarner. There’s a 48-12 transfer case for part-time four-wheel drive operation with Hi and Low ranges and a BorgWarner 48-11 transfer case for on-demand four-wheel drive. This package is said to be available on nearly every trim, so be on the lookout off-roaders!

Lighting

The all-new full LED Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) has been added to the 2019 Ram 1500 pickup truck. Some features include twin bi-functional projector headlamps, fog lamps and tail lamps, the AFS points headlamps in the planned direction the vehicle is traveling using steering wheel input to point light around turns, driveways, and parking lots. That should definitely help when driving at night considering it’s a large cause for annual car-related incidents.

The RamBox cargo management system returns, made more durable, and returning with its versatile, weatherproof, lockable, illuminated features, along with drainable storage bins built into the bed rails. For the 2019 model year, the RamBox features a 115-volt outlet and relocated overhead lighting in the box lids to improve illumination.

Technology

What really got everyone’s attention in the spy shots was the new, large, vertical, 12-inch touchscreen display. Taken right out of the Tesla catalog, this new touchscreen is a bit futuristic and has never before been seen in a truck. It’s optional, meaning buyers can still get Uconnect 4 with or without navigation on an 8.4-inch display and Uconnect 3 with 5-inch display if not a fan of the large touchscreen. However, make sure to do research as some of these awesome features might already come standard.

The class-exclusive 12-inch touchscreen is reconfigurable for easy personalization. Designed with a new split-screen, buyers can operate two different applications, such as Apple CarPlay (or Android Auto) and the HVAC controls simultaneously. Of course, the latter will still have their usual knobs residing beneath the touchscreen if looking to open another function, or displaying the navigation screen across all twelve inches. Either way, tailor-made graphics for various Ram models make it easy to personalize and figure out what function each graphic is paired with.

If opting in for the 12-inch touchscreen, buyers will also get to experience the new SiriusXM 360L platform. Popping up on the 2019 Ram 1500 first, this new platform will offer more variety, smart content recommendations, and limitless on-demand streaming audio. Don’t miss out on SiriusXM’s next-generation platform, only available with the 12-inch touchscreen, with a complimentary one-year SiriusXM All Access subscription with the purchase of a properly equipped 2019 Ram 1500.

Safety

Safety features also received an upgrade the 2019 model year. For the first time, the Ram 1500 comes with a 360-degree Surround View Camera system in the 2019 model. This camera provides a birds-eye view of the vehicle via four cameras positioned around the chassis to create a fully stitched image. Kicking it up a notch, drivers can also select other views, including front or rear cross path to get a better idea of their immediate surroundings in parking lots.

Speaking of which, the 2019 Ram 1500 comes with many new safety features, ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park and Hill-start Assist being two of them. Buyers will no longer have to wrestle with pesky parallel parking thanks to ultrasonic sensors that help the driver perform those pesky technical maneuvers in a tight spot. This is just the tip of the safety iceberg.

Said to have more than 100 standard and available safety and security features in the all-new 2019 Ram 1500, there are some that are more notable. The 2019 Ram 1500 comes available with Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop, Go and Hold, Forward Collision Warning-Plus that warns the driver if impact appears imminent and assists in mitigating an accident by deploying the brakes if no driver-input is recognized. Also, Ready Alert Braking and Trailer-sway Damping control, LaneSense Lane Departure Warning-Plus that alerts and assist the driver with corrective action when leaving their lane, and Blind-spot Monitoring that alerts the driver if another vehicle is approaching in their blind-spot (also offers easy-to-use trailer coverage). Finally, ParkSense park assist with reverse stop, Rear Cross Path (RCP) detection, and 9-1-1 Call/Assist Call. Wow! Talk about an upgrade!!
