Ram Prepares Lineup with Modern Updates to 2018 Models

September 29th, 2017 by

2017 was a good year for the Ram brand. Among the year’s top news was the brand’s awesome results in the 2017 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS). This year’s study resulted in Ram being the most improved truck brand and having the fourth best score among all 33 brands.

To keep up the good news, Ram began announcing the new additions and improvements taking place for the 2018 model year over the summer, and now that the new year is getting closer, Ram has released more 2018 model year updates.

New Limited Tungsten Edition Trims

Ram is adding a new luxury trim to the 2018 model year lineup called the Limited Tungsten Edition. The new trim is available on the Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 trims and in a variety of model configurations. The new trim features new frost and indigo-colored leather on the vehicle’s seats, rubber floor mats and steering wheel as well as wood-grain accents. There are also exterior upgrades such as a Tungsten chrome grille, black surrounds on the vehicle’s headlights and satin painted Limited wheels.

In today’s world, luxury isn’t complete without technology, and the new Limited Tungsten Edition trims have plenty of tech. Tech features include a navigational radio, a backup camera, remote start and Uconnect 8.4, which has Android Auto, Apple Carplay and SiriusXM Guardian.

Increased Torque

Truck brands are always looking for new ways to increase the power of their heavy duty trucks and Ram outdid themselves with changes to the 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel engine. 2018 model year Ram 3500 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel models can produce 930 lb-ft of torque, which is an increase of 30 lb-ft in comparison to the truck’s previous capability and the highest rating for a pickup. The increase in torque gives the Ram 3500 a 30,000-pound fifth wheel maximum towing capacity, which is quite impressive.

New Agriculturally-Inspired Trim

To further identify the Ram brand with some of their most important consumers, Ram has launched a new edition of truck trims called the Harvest Edition trims that are built for people in the agricultural industry. Harvest Edition trims will be available in two colors, Case IH Red and New Holland Blue, which are both colors of farm equipment made by one of subsidiaries of CNH Industrial. In addition to the new colors, Harvest Edition trucks will have rubber floor mats, skid plates and tow hooks, on/off road tires and a cargo view camera.

Other New Changes for 2018

In addition to the new trims and increased torque capability of the Ram 3500 Cummins Turbo Diesel, Ram has added a variety of new standard features to all models.
