South Florida’s Warm Holiday Spirit
While South Floridian’s may not experience a “white Christmas,” evidence of holiday traditions are still evident — palm trees are brightly outfitted with Christmas lights, malls are packed with shoppers, Menorah’s decorate window sills and Santa hats are worn.
As a Dodge dealership in South Florida, we have made a list of some of 2015’s holiday events and happenings taking place across South Florida communities in the upcoming weeks.
Santa’s Enchanted Forest, Miami: Dubbed “the world’s largest holiday theme park and free carnival,” Santa’s Enchanted Forest is a well-known holiday attraction held annually in South Florida. In addition to food and games, the theme park has over a hundred rides ranging from rides for the family, children, and those who can handle topsy-turvy thrills. Santa’s Enchanted Forest is open everyday from 5 p.m. to midnight (closing at 11 p.m. on New Year’s Eve) and will remain open until Jan. 3. Tickets can be purchased online or at the park.
Holiday Fantasy of Lights, Coconut Creek: Beginning Friday, Nov. 20 and running through Saturday, Jan. 2, the Tradewinds Park will illuminate with three miles of holiday displays at the 21st annual event, Holiday Fantasy of Lights. The event is open nightly from 6-10 p.m. (including all major holidays) and is held at Tradewinds Park, located at 3600 West Sample Rd. in Coconut Creek. The cost is $15 per car.
2015 Key West “Bight” Before Christmas, Key West: This year Key West’s annual “Bight” Before Christmas has a long lineup of spirited events
throughout the holiday season. The first of these events taking place at the Key West Bight Marina is the Nautical Harbor Walk and is slated for Nov. 25. Other events including the Key West Hometown Holiday Parade to be held on Dec. 5, and Pet Pictures with Santa scheduled for Dec.r 11.
Winter Holiday Tree, Menorah and Kinara Decorating Contest, Davie: The Town of Davie invites the communities schools and civic groups to participate in the 27th Annual Winter Holiday Tree, Menorah and Kinara Decorating Contest decorating Davie’s Town Hall. Decorating is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, Dec. 2 and groups can decorate anytime before noon on Friday, Dec. 4th. Groups are asked to make all of their own decorations, and stick to the theme. Prizes will be awarded at the Lighting of the Greens, scheduled for Sat. Dec. 5. Other events held at the lighting include, a Jingle Bell Parade, petting farm, refreshments, and 20 tons of holiday snow.
Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade, Fort Lauderdale: Scheduled to take place on Saturday, Dec. 12, this year’s Winterfest Boat Parade will be led by the parade’s Grand Marshall, Nick Cannon. The community can participate by entering their boat in the parade or finding a spot along the route to watch. In addition to the parade, there are several other events such as a student art event, a drink contest, and awards which will be given after the parade.
