Ram Customers to Receive New Personalized SiriusXM Radio Experience
Pickup Owners that are technologically-inclined will be happy to learn that Ram has something in store for them. The truck brand recently announced it’ll be among the first to integrate SiriusXM’s new Pandora-powered stations in its upcoming 2020 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 and chassis cabs models. 2019 pickup owners shouldn’t fret, Ram also announced that it plans to roll out an over-the-air software update to include the new feature in its 2019 models.
There’s one catch to all this, Ram is only offering this feature to those models that are equipped with the brand’s innovative 12-inch Uconnect touchscreen display. Any other system will not be able to support SiriusXM’s Pandora-powered stations, software update included. Starting in late October 2019, Ram will begin offering the system as standard on trucks featuring the 12-inch infotainment touchscreen. 2019 models will begin receiving the over-the-air update towards the end of the last quarter.
Thanks to the complimentary SiriusXM All Access subscription, Ram owners will be able to make stations that are ad-free and customized according to their musical tastes. Touchscreen operation remains the same, but owners can now help shape the algorithm by selecting a simple thumbs up or thumbs down motion to determine if the song playing fits the customized Pandora-powered radio stations. Skipping songs also helps shape the algorithm and determines whether the particular songs will show up in the rotation in the future.
The Pandora-SiriusXM feature isn’t the only addition to the 2020 and 2019 Ram Trucks lineup, the pickups will also feature a new “Sports Notification” function. Regardless of the location of the pickup, or what’s on the infotainment display screen, owners can rely on a notification if their favorite selected sports team is playing at the time. With just a quick tap, like a shortcut, owners will be able to listen to the corresponding station and tune into the game.
Current SiriusXM subscribers who drive a 2019 Ram Truck equipped with the Uconnect 12-inch touchscreen will be notified of their update on their infotainment system. Ram Trucks were the first pickups to include SiriusXM with 360L, the satellite radio’s ground-breaking next-generation platform, when it made its debut in 2018. SiriusXM 360L offers Ram drivers more SiriusXM channels and variety thanks to its content that not only comes via satellite, but also from streaming. Users can enjoy a more personalized SiriusXM experience thanks to recommendations based on their listening preferences. Ram owners can even manage and enjoy their SiriusXM account via the touchscreen while the vehicle is parked.
