Ram 1500 To Get a Facelift Before 2024 Model Year
It’s commonly acknowledged that the North American automotive market is heavily influenced by full-size pickup trucks. This segment is highly dynamic, and while it may seem surprising, the current-generation Ram 1500 has been around for a few years now. Consequently, a mid-cycle refresh is on the horizon for the pickup, and recently captured spy photos gave enthusiasts a sneak peek at the updated styling of the truck.
Regrettably, Ram isn’t parading uncovered (and unreleased) trucks in Detroit as Ford is doing with its 2024 F-150. Instead, the pickups are still heavily concealed at both the front and rear. Interestingly, this prototype closely resembles the first Ram facelift spied earlier in the year (2023). Both prototypes sport a sleek black exterior with black wheels. However, this time, it’s highly likely that there’s a new Rebel variant. Notably, fans can observe black mirrors and the absence of chrome accents around the windows. If that’s not convincing enough, a look at the vehicle’s ride height and the prominent white letter tires give us a clue as the unmistakable features of the off-road-focused Rebel trim.
The distinctive design of the Rebel is apparent beneath the camouflage, and the grille appears slightly larger in this iteration. Likewise, the headlights seem to be slightly more compact, and experts anticipate minor design refinements to the lower fascia. The rectangular driving lamps at the corners, characteristic of the Rebel, also appear somewhat larger. Moving to the rear of the pickup, nearly everything is concealed by the extensive camouflage, but it appears that the alterations will be relatively subtle. Sources indicate that buyers can expect updated taillights and potentially some adjustments to the bumper trim. Notably, the dual exhaust pipes are clearly visible, exiting through small openings in the bumper, a design feature consistent with the current Ram 1500 lineup.
Arguably, the most significant change lies connected to those exhaust pipes, specifically in the engine department. It’s highly likely that the upcoming powerplant beneath the hood of the Ram 1500 will be the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine currently utilized by sister brand Jeep. Although Ram hasn’t officially confirmed this, it appears that the venerable Hemi V8 engine will be retired in favor of the potent inline-six for the refreshed truck. In its most robust configuration, this engine delivers an impressive 510 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque.
Now, the burning question is, when can we expect to see the unmasked version of the refreshed Ram? It appears that the revamped aesthetics, along with the new engine, are slated for the 2025 model year. This implies that the unveiling is likely to occur either toward the end of this year (2023) or in the early months of 2024.
