Iconic Dodge Cars Made Famous Through Film
Dodge has a variety of cars from vans to SUVs to performance vehicles. Dodge also has a long history of outstanding vehicles. So outstanding infact, that many of them have been the main vehicle in movies. The Viper, Charger and Monaco are three Dodge vehicles that have shown up in many different movies over time. Four popular movies that feature at least one of these Dodge vehicles include: Wanted, The Fast and Furious, Blues Brothers, and The Dukes of Hazzard.
Wanted is a 2008 action and crime movie starring Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy, and Morgan Freeman. The basic plot of the movie is that a everyday man and office employee discovers he has a superhuman killing talent which he gets from his father who turns out to be an Assassin.
Angelina Jolie’s character drives a 2008 Viper SRT-10 as she speeds across the city of Chicago in this fast and gorgeous performance vehicle. While weaving in and out of traffic she is also shooting at the vehicles following her. It wouldn’t be a good action movie without a car chase!
The Dukes of Hazzard
The Dukes of Hazzard is a classic American TV show that was also made into a movie. The show began in the late 70s, and the movie came out in 2005. The show and the movie are both action comedies. The show/movie is about the Duke family boys in Georgia’s Hazzard county. The show and movie both follow these fast and crazy boys through their adventures in their custom and iconic car named “General Lee”.
The General Lee is a bright orange 1969 Dodge Charger. The boys are trouble makers and on probation, so they can’t leave the county. Therefore, they are stuck causing all sorts of mischief in their Charger around town.
Fast and Furious
Fast and Furious is the first of the Fast and Furious series. This movie is where it all begins. For those who haven’t seen the movie, it is an action and crime movie about street racing. When an undercover cop ends up becoming obsessed with street racing, he has a choice to make. This movie stars the famous duo, Paul Walker and Vin Diesel.
The Fast and Furious movies have a love for Dodge vehicles. In the case of the first movie, Vin Diesel drives a custom 1970 Dodge Charger R/T. This vehicle wins and dominates over all the cars in the final race scene of the film. The Charger is the same body style of the Charger in the Dukes of Hazzard movie.
Blues Brothers is another crime movie, but this movie is also a musical comedy. The movie came out in 1980, and is based off a Saturday Night Live sketch. The basic plot of the movie is that two brothers, Jake and Elwood go on a mission from god to save the orphanage they grew up in from foreclosing. The way they do this is by raising money and putting their old R&B band back together.
The brothers drive a 1974 Dodge Monaco, which is an old retired police car in the movie. They drive this car throughout the whole movie. But, the most memorable scene with the vehicle is when they are in a police chase because they crash the car into the mall and kept driving through the mall. If you want a good laugh, this movie is for you.
The Viper and Charger are both currently producing vehicles, however 2017 is the last year for the Viper. Production of the Dodge Monaco ended in 1992. You can check out our Dodge Viper and Dodge Charger inventory here.
