How Dodge Will Change the Performance EV Segment
It’s not a secret that automakers are speeding up their electrification efforts and Dodge is no exception. As model lineups expand, advancements in technology continue to push these vehicles forward while contributing to the EV segment’s expansion like never before. As the industry continues to expand its commitment to sustainability, conventional vehicles are being phased out–including the Dodge Charger and Challenger models–but that doesn’t mean the days of performance vehicles are numbered. Not if Dodge has any say about it as the automaker intends to revolutionize electric vehicles if its upcoming Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept is anything to judge by.
Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept
The Dodge Charger Daytona SRT reimagines what electric vehicles can be, offering a glimpse at the automaker’s battery-electric future. Unveiled as a two-door concept at Michigan’s M1 Concourse, the Charger Daytona SRT was part of a larger Speed Week reveal which included other Dodge performance products. Dodge introduced a new propulsion system powering the Charger Daytona SRT, making it unlike any other vehicle on the road today. Exceeding Dodge’s SRT Hellcat image was a big task for the automaker, but the all-new concept even comes with an industry-first EV exhaust sound. Dodge looked to the past for inspiration, incorporating subtle heritage cues while also opting for the most modern aerodynamic targets as well. On the inside, the Charger Daytona SRT creates an immersive experience for both passengers and drivers alike with the addition of sounds, displays and other lighting features that change with the push of a button.
Ready to revolutionize the EV segment, the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT offers quite the hat tip to the brand’s iconic past. In the front fascia enthusiasts can see an all-new, patent-pending R-Wing design that’s tasked with redefining the classic Dodge front end. The front grille features cross-car illuminated lighting complete with a Fratzog logo, something Dodge had teased more than a year ago. The Fratzog logo was originally found on Dodge’s muscle cars starting from 1962-1967 and was previously used without much meaning behind it–until now. The return of the logo signifies Dodge respects its past and is clearly taking inspiration from it as it commits to a cleaner and greener future.
The vehicle itself is not excessively decorated outside, for example the headlights are hidden beneath the R-Wing design, seamlessly integrating them into the model’s aerodynamic surface. Both the front and rear lighting fixtures come with a 3D illuminated Fratzog badge, complete with accent lighting throughout that illuminates the Charger Daytona SRT’s overall design. The minimalist design continues on to flush door handles and brushed aluminum. While the concept rides on painted-pocket 21-inch wheels with diamond-cut faces, the stopping power comes directly from Grey six-piston brakes.
