Here’s Why the Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack is the Best Trim to Buy

April 7th, 2022 by

Dodge has made plenty of iconic muscle cars over the years, but none stand out as remarkably as the Challenger does. While muscle car lovers always pine for the muscle of yore, the modern Dodge Challenger is no slouch. In fact, one of the toughest things about the 2022 Dodge Challenger is knowing which trim to choose. Let us narrow down the brand’s most appealing and best-selling Dodge Challenger trim.

Yes, it’s true that Dodge offers plenty of Challenger trims and options, but the best of the bunch is the R/T Scat Pack. Like other impressive Dodge trims, the Challenger R/T Scat Pack packs a punch combining the best features and specs that consumers want for an adequate value price. Starting at around $47,000 (plus destination fee), the Challenger R/T Scat Pack isn’t out of reach for enthusiasts looking to make their muscle dreams come true. Dodge also sells the Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody starting in the $53,000 (plus destination fee) range.

Edmunds reports that the Challenger R/T Scat Pack is the model’s best selling trim and it’s not hard to see why. The trim packs a punch—and a lot of muscle thanks to the 6.4-liter V8 resting under the hood. Buyers can expect the massive engine to generate 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. In just 4.2 seconds the Challenger can go from 0 to 60 mph; the model tops out at 176 mph.

Not only is the Challenger R/T Scat Pack a great buy because of its engine, it also grants buyers access to numerous comfort and performance features as well. There’s a high-performance suspension, a launch control system, upgraded engine cooling features, and more. Buyers can also opt for Brembo brakes, 20-inch wheels and adaptive dampers to round out the model’s excellent performance chops. Luxury features on the R/T Scat Pack trim of the Challenger include heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, upgraded cabin materials and more.

Dodge doesn’t go light on the infotainment either, giving buyers an 8.4-inch touchscreen display as standard equipment along with a premium six-speaker audio system. The automaker also offers an available Driver Convenience Package that includes advanced safety features such as Rear-cross Traffic Alert and Blind-Spot Monitoring. The crown jewel of the 2022 Dodge Challenger remains the SRT hellcat trim that with its 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 engine produces 717 horsepower and 656 lb-ft of torque. Such supercharged power comes at a starting cost in the $67,000 range, not including the destination fee.
