Dodge: Great Selection of Winter Cars
Today is the Winter Solstice, so thankfully days will start getting longer again. But it is also only the official first day of winter, and although the days might get longer, temperatures do not necessarily get warmer. So far, many places around the United States have seen relatively mild temperatures but who knows what is to come for the remaining 2015-2016 winter?
While the reality of winter sets in — winter preparedness should be somewhere in the thoughts of drivers living in climates that face harsh conditions. Are your tires winter-ready? Do you need to fix your heater? What about a remote start engine so you can get into a nice and warm car?
Many of the cars, trucks and SUVs in the Dodge line have made various “best winter lists” because they are sturdy, have great winter features and handle well in slippery and harsh conditions.
Dodge Ram Trucks
Aside from being efficient and safe while navigating wintery conditions, the Ram 2500 and 3500 models make excellent winter trucks because they can plow snow. Ram 2500 and 3500 models have the option of purchasing a Snow Chief Package with their truck. The package outfits each truck with plowing necessities including q higher-amp alternator; anti-spin differential; Plow lighting interface eliminates the need for a lighting harness and enables plow lights to override the headlights upon plow installation; transfer case skid plates; auxiliary switches to operate the plow; clearance lamps; and OWL 18″ tires. The Dodge Journey is one of the few crossovers on the market that has a comfortable seating capacity for seven passengers. Standard winter features on all of the Journey trims include Khumo brand all-season touring tires, heated exterior mirrors and dual-zone temperatures so drivers and passengers can stay comfortable, cozy and warm. The Journey’s most expensive trim, the Journey R/T, includes three temperature control zones, heated steering wheel and heated front seats. Dodge’s most popular SUV, the Dodge Durango, made Consumer Reports’ list as “one of the best winter SUVs.” The list’s rankings were based off 47,000+ consumer responses on their vehicles manufactured between 2012-2015. The most basic Durango model, the Dodge Durango SE, includes 18” inch aluminum wheels and on/off road tires. The Dodge Durango SE starts at $30,495 and can be upgraded to an all-wheel drive vehicle for $2,600.
