Dodge Adds New Durango R/T Plus Trim for the 2022 Model Year
Although Dodge implied it was in the business of simplifying its own lineup for the 2022 model year, the automaker is poised to add another new trim to the Durango mode. According to Mopar Insiders, there’s a soon-to-be-official 2022 Dodge Durango R/T Plus trim following in the footsteps of the existing Durango GT Plus trim. With the addition of this trim, Dodge will offer many more premium options at a more affordable trim level.
2022 Dodge Durango R/T Plus Features
Blending high performance and luxury, the Durango R/T is supposed to be an improved and thrilling three-row SUV. Rear-wheel drive models start at $52,225 (plus destination fee), while the all-wheel drive Durango R/T Plus has a rumored starting price of $54,825 (plus destination fee). Dodge has yet to confirm these prices, so readers should take that information with a grain of salt. Prospective buyers interested in the 2022 Durango R/T Plus can expect:

- Blind-Spot Detection
- Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop
- Advanced Brake Assist
- A premium instrument panel
- Lane Departure warning-Plus
- Dinamica Suede Headliner
- A 19-speaker, 825 Watt Harman Kardon premium sound system
Thanks to the additional luxury features, this Durango R/T Plus is not only a substantial option for buyers, it also can accommodate the Tow N’ Go Package to increase maximum speed (145 mph) and towing capacity up to 8,700 pounds. The package includes a lot more features that take the Durango R/T Plus to a whole new level, including additional advanced safety features and extended cargo perks. The package retails for $4,995 and is suitable for those who want more capability and speed from their Dodge Durango.
Under the hood, the Dodge Durango R/T is powered by the legendary 5.7-liter HEMI V8, generating 360 horsepower and up to 390 lb-ft of torque. When equipped with the aforementioned Tow N’ Go package, the Durango R/T can go from 0-60 mph in just 6.2 seconds and has a quarter mile time of only 14.7 seconds. 2022 Dodge Durango production kicks off in December (2021).
