Cummins Diesel Engines are So Durable There’s a Million Mile Club

Today (May 12) is National Odometer Day, and a car with a high odometer is a testament to a car’s durability and endurance. Vehicles that continue on into life after 200,000 miles are a sign of something built right.

As evidence to the engine engineering and endurance of Cummins engines, Cummins started up the Cummins Million Mile Club to officially recognize all of the Dodge and Ram owners that have a vehicle with over one million miles on it.

You might be surprised to learn that the list isn’t short either. With a list of over 6,700 vehicles, 90 of them have over one million miles on their odometers! Of the highest is a 1996 Dodge Ram with a 5.9-liter Cummins diesel engine that has 3,016,789 miles. Following that is another two 5.9-liter Cummins engines that also have over 3,000,000 miles on them.

Pretty impressive considering some cars can barely reach 150,000 before they get so many problems it isn’t even worth repairing. Share your vehicle’s odometer with us on our Facebook page and use the hashtag #NationalOdometerDay.
