Always Dreaming Wins Kentucky Derby and Trainer Todd Pletcher Wins a Ram Truck
Every year, Churchill Downs in Kentucky hosts the Kentucky Derby and for the last eight years, Ram has been the “Official Truck” of the horse track and the Kentucky Derby. At this year’s race, Ram also gave the trainer of the winning horse a special-edition Ram truck.
The winner of this year’s race was Always Dreaming, so his trainer, Todd Pletcher, won the one-of-a-kind 143rd Kentucky Derby edition Ram 2500 Limited. The special truck is all black and it has unique Kentucky Derby badging on the exterior and it is equipped with a 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel engine. The 6.7L engine gives the truck a maximum towing capacity of more than 17,000 pounds, which is plenty of power for Pletcher to tow a horse trailer for Always Dreaming and all of his friends.
“Ram trucks are the perfect match for horse owners, trainers and riders, and partnering with America’s premiere racing events is a great way to demonstrate our commitment to these customers,” said Mike Manley, Head of Ram Brand, FCA – Global in a press release. “With the longest-lasting pickup trucks on the market and class-leading capabilities, Ram trucks are well-deserving of the ‘Official Truck of Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby’ status.”
Here’s a congratulations to Always Dreaming, Todd Pletcher and John Velazquez on winning the Kentucky Derby. We’ll be watching to see if Always Dreaming has a shot at the Triple Crown this year at the Preakness Stakes at the end of the month.
