State-of-the-Art Hurricane Engines
The 2025 Ram 1500 features the all-new 3.0-liter Hurricane Standard Output and High Output engines. Part of the Stellantis Hurricane Twin-turbo family, these engines, boasting the most potent six cylinders in their segment, achieve superior fuel efficiency and reduced emissions while generating more horsepower and torque compared to other naturally aspirated V-8 and boosted six-cylinder engines in the light-duty category. These all-new 3.0-liter Hurricane engines complement the existing 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 within the Ram 1500 lineup. All three engine options available in the 2025 Ram 1500 are paired with the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission, ensuring smooth shifts that balance fuel economy, performance, and drivability.
The Hurricane engine’s foundation consists of a deep-skirt cast-aluminum block featuring a structural aluminum alloy oil pan. As the most robust Ram engine to date, it incorporates cross-bolted steel main bearing caps to secure the robust rotating assembly, comprising a forged steel crankshaft and forged steel connecting rods. During manufacturing, the block undergoes deck-plate honing to optimize cylinder bore shape, contributing to improved fuel efficiency.
