2017 Dodge Journey vs. Dodge Grand Caravan
When big families consider looking for a car, crossover SUV’s or minivans are usually the first choice. However, a lot of minivans aren’t exactly budget friendly, and that’s where Dodge comes in! Dodge is one of the few car brands that offers buyers space and money-saving options – welcome the Dodge Journey and the Dodge Grand Caravan. Let’s take a closer look and see which one is a better fit for family life.
The Dodge Journey hasn’t really changed much since its debut in 2009. However, it now comes standard with third-row seating in all trims. With a manual recline, the six-way power driver’s seat is ideal for those long road trips. Additionally, all five of the Journey trims (SE, SXT, Crossroad, Crossroad Plus, and GT) are equipped with front-wheel drive, excluding the Journey GT. Fuel efficiency is 19 in the city and 25 on the highway. Furthermore, all trims also come standard with 4.3-inch touch screen display, 6 speakers, and an audio jack for mobile devices.
Some new features for the 2018 Dodge Journey include a dark-colored 19-inch wheel design that’s called Black Noise. This new feature joins the Dodge brand’s popular Blacktop package that includes gloss-black exterior mirrors, grille, wheels, and roof rails is now available on the Journey GT, Journey SE, and Journey SXT models.
Starting MSRP is $21,195
Dodge Grand Caravan
There really is no comparison for a minivan in terms of interior cabin room. Across three rows, seven passengers can sit comfortably. Just like most minivans, the Dodge Grand Caravan offers power-sliding side doors and an exceptional feature is the Stow ‘n Go feature with large storage compartments that sit under the floor. The second- and third-row seats fold into the floor which opens up 143.8 cubic feet of cargo space – HELLO TAILGATING or umm HELLO SOCCER GAMES? The Dodge Grand Caravan is equipped with a 3.6L V6 and 6 speed automatic transmission, just like the Dodge Journey GT trim.
For some added features, all of the Dodge Grand Caravan trims (SE, SE Plus, SXT and GT) come standard with 6.5-inch touchscreen display, 12-volt aux power outlet, and an audio jack input for mobile devices. Additionally, the Grand Caravan is fitted with LATCH-ready child seat anchor system and ParkView Rear Back-Up Camera. Fuel economy is 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.
Starting MSRP is $25,995 (plus destination fee)
