Since Dodge introduced the Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat in 2015, the company has been consistently stepping up their performance car lineup and 2017 was a big year full of changes. In 2017: Dodge ended production on the Dodge Viper, one of America’s best sports cars; added two Daytona trims to the Charger lineup and three T/A trims to the Challenger lineup; they released the first ever all-wheel-drive two-door muscle car, the Challenger GT AWD; then, they made big announcements for the 2018 model year lineup and these all include high performance SRT models — the Durango SRT, Challenger SRT Demon and the Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody.

In case you were so busy trying to keep up with the changes to the 2017 model year Challenger and Charger lineups, here is a refresher on what Dodge and SRT will be releasing for the 2018 model year.

2018 Dodge Durango SRT

In 2018, SRT performance will no longer be limited to the Challenger and Charger. Coming to dealerships in the fall of 2017 is the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT and it is America’s most powerful and capable three-row SUV.

Equipped with the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 SRT engine, the Durango SRT produces 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The Durango SRT is equipped with all-wheel-drive and it is certified by the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) with a quarter-mile time of 12.9 seconds and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 4.4 seconds. In addition to being a beast around the track, the powerful engine also gives the Durango SRT and awesome maximum towing capacity of 8,700 pounds.

Like other SRT models the Durango has top-of-the-line exterior and interior features, including an SRT performance hood, a new front end design and a leather and suede interior. Since performance is a key quality to the new model, all Durango SRT models will be equipped with Uconnect 8.4 and the Uconnect performance pages.

A few months after the announcement of the Durango SRT, Dodge unveiled one of the most anticipated models of the year, the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. With 840 horsepower and a massive engine under the hood, the new Challenger SRT Demon surpass the Challenger SRT Hellcat as being the most powerful and fastest muscle car in the world and it has many features never seen on a production car ever before. Here are just some of the production firsts that came along with the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon:

  • Highest horsepower V8 production car
  • First-ever front-wheel lift in a production car
  • World’s fastest 0-60 mph production car – 2.3 seconds.
  • Largest functional hood scoop of any production car

The Challenger SRT Demon is truly unlike any other car on the market and it available for order through University Dodge now.

A few months after the debut of the Challenger SRT Demon, Dodge wanted to remind consumers about the Challenger SRT Hellcat, which is still extremely powerful with itis 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque engine, so they took a couple design cues from the Challenger SRT Demon. Starting in 2018, the Challenger SRT Hellcat will be available as the standard model as well as a widebody model called the Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody.

The Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody will have wider fender flares allowing for 11-inch wide tires that give the vehicle even more grip on the track. Additionally, the Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody will have a new standard electric power steering that enhances grip, handling and performance. In comparison to the Challenger SRT Hellcat, the new widebody Hellcat is about 2 seconds faster per lap on a 1.7-mile track.  The new Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody is expected to arrive to dealerships in fall of 2018.
