2022 Dodge Charger
As the only sedan on the market with a V8 engine and a starting price under $40,000, the 2022 Dodge Charger basically stands out in a class of its own. A throwback muscle car inspired by the past, the Dodge Charger has a standard V6 and available all-wheel drive, with plenty of hefty V8 options in the lineup as well.

Avail. Engine Type
The 2022 Dodge Charger comes in seven different trims — SXT (RWD), GT (RWD), R/T, Scat Pack, Scat Pack Widebody, SRT Hellcat Widebody, and the top-tier SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody. All trims are mated to an automatic eight-speed transmission, while rear-wheel-drive is the standard — rather rare for a modern passenger vehicle. A 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine is standard on the entry-level trims, but numerous HEMI engine variants are also available. There is a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 that generates 370 horsepower and is standard on the Charger R/T, while every trim from the Scat Pack onward is powered by a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 that generates a whopping 485 horsepower. The 2022 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody reigns supreme as it’s powered by a refined 6.2-liter HEMI V8 that yields 717 horsepower.
What’s New for 2022?
Dodge made small changes to the 2022 Charger lineup, including the addition of the Driver Convenience Group Package that includes a deluxe security alarm. This feature is standard on the 2022 Dodge Charger SRT Scat Pack trim, and available as an upgrade on the rest of the Dodge Charger lineup. All-wheel-drive is limited to the V6-powered trims; SXT and GT. Dodge also added the Driver Convenience Group Package that includes advanced safety tech such as Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear-Cross-Traffic Alert, as well as heated exterior mirrors and improved headlights. Buyers can also opt for the Performance Handling Group Package which adds 20-inch wheels, all-season performance tires, a sport-tuned suspension, and Brembo brakes.
Strength and power are the guiding design principles of the 2022 Dodge Charger. Each trim is individually designed to stand out, with the R/T featuring touches of old-school style and performance, along with HEMI fender and deck lid badges. The Scat Pack trim stands out thanks to a trim-specific grille, along with deck lid and 392 HEMI fender badges. Both the Hellcat and Hellcat Redeye trims offer grilles with added edge (custom black chrome on the Redeye), as well as fender and deck lid badges and more. Racing stripes are encouraged and come in various colors and styles, including Blue, Red, Silver, Carbon, and Gunmetal.
Often lauded for its excellent rear legroom, the 2022 Dodge Charger also offers prospective buyers ample trunk volume as well. The center console is largely considered ergonomic and features many storage spots and compartments for small items. Remote vehicle start, as well as push-to-start, and Start/Stop Remote are all available as modern vehicle perks. A digital cluster display measuring 7 inches is standard and displays instant information on performance stats and navigation. Standard features include a suede headliner, steering wheel-mounted controls and carbon fiber trim bezels, while customization opportunities present themselves as available Nappa leather upholstery, satin carbon wheels, a rear spoiler and much more.
The 2022 Dodge Charger comes standard with Dodge’s trustworthy Uconnect infotainment system. Entry-level trims, such as the SXT and GT, come standard with a 7-inch touchscreen display, while the higher-tier trims feature a larger 8.4-inch display instead. Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto capabilities are standard, while the optional SiriusXM Radio includes perks such as Travel Link, Roadside Assistance and more. A six-speaker Alpine Audio system is standard, but audiophiles will be happy to learn they can upgrade to a 19-speaker Harman/Kardon Premium Audio system instead.
